Wyatt’s gig as 9-1-1: Lone Star ‘s new lead dispatcher also comes with a major behind-the-scenes bump — Jackson Pace has been promoted to series regular ahead of the Fox procedural’s upcoming fifth season, TVLine has confirmed.

Wyatt arrived on the scene in Season 3, revealing himself to be the estranged son of Judd (Jim Parrack), who had no idea that a one-night stand with a rodeo fan (Robyn Lively) resulted in the birth of a child. With some encouragement from Grace (Sierra McClain), Judd spent the next few years forging a meaningful relationship with Wyatt, one that was became even stronger when Wyatt announced his decision to drop out of college and follow in his father’s firefighting footsteps.

Unfortunately, a tragic biking accident sidelined Wyatt’s plan to become a member of the 126. Instead, as revealed in a new promo for Season 5 , he’ll be stepping into the role of a 9-1-1 dispatcher. This changing of the guard worked out nicely for 9-1-1: Lone Star , which lost its main dispatcher when McClain quietly exited the show after Season 4.

“As the new season starts, Wyatt must forge a new path in the world post-accident which will lead him to be connected to the 126,” reads the official logline. TVLine can confirm that Pace will appear in every episode of the show’s fifth — and possibly final — season.
