Olympic hopeful Veronica Fraley caught the internet's attention with a heart-wrenching plea on X , just a day before her event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, expressing her struggle to pay her rent. Both Alexis Ohanian and Flavor Flav stepped in after seeing her message.

Taking to socials on August 1, Veronica disclosed her predicament: "I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can't even pay my rent," paired with a side-eye emoji. She lamented that while she only received about 75% of her rent from her university, football players are substantially better supported, some affording lavish purchases like cars and houses.

The rapper and reality star Flavor Flav was quick to respond, publicly committing to help Veronica out. "I gotchu...DM me and I'll send payment TODAY so you don't have to worry bout it TOMORROW...and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow LETZ GO! " he replied.

Flavor Flav later posted a screenshot seemingly depicting Veronica's CashApp details, with the caption: "Man of word...and Imma try and come by and support you in person tomorrow. LMK what time."

Although the exact figure wasn't revealed, it confirmed his gesture of support. Another supporter commended Flav, who's also backing the US Women's Water Polo team financially, for his swift response, saying: "Man of my word!!! This is what I been saying and promoting with water polo...I can't fix everything on my own...but right now I am."

Alexis then stepped into the fray after a fan tagged him in a plea for assistance. "C'mon now! I'll split it with Flavor Flav," he declared.

"Got you! DM me your $cashtag," he messaged Veronica, before posting an update: "Update. It's done! " accompanied by a screenshot showing a transfer of $7,760 to Veronica.

A shocked follower exclaimed about the rent amount: "Her rent was $15,500?!?! " Alexis responded: "Nah I just paid 7,760 because I like the number (my firm is @sevensevensix.)."

Flav joined in celebrating the news, commenting, "HERO...absolute hero!"

Team USA's discus thrower Veronica is gearing up to nab a medal for her squad on Friday, August 2. She made headlines when revealing her struggles with rent payments, partly subsidised by Vanderbilt University where she also competes.

Despite the university fully covering the accommodation costs for its football players, Veronica points out that her frustrations aren't directed at the institution, but rather the system of Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) which she believes favours notoriety over athleticism.

She took to social media saying, "Thanks for the supporting messages but I want to clarify my irritation isn't with the school itself, mainly the rules that bar me from making the amount I'm WORTH as a collegiate athlete such as NIL which favors popularity over performance," and added, "That's all I'm sayin. Wish me luck tm! ".

As we look forward to the discus throw festivities, it's pertinent to remember that this event is among the quartet of throwing competitions at the Olympics. The womens sector of the discus throw at the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is slated for Friday, August 2, and Monday, August 5.
