ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — After more than 20 years in legal limbo the fate of the alleged masterminds of the 9/11 terror attack agreed to plead guilty. As part of the plea deal Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and two accomplices will not face the death penalty.

This week on Empire State Weekly, Former New York Governor George Pataki, who was Governor during the 9/11 terror attack, reacted to the plea deal. He said it “really upset” him when he heard the details of the plea deal.

“If ever there was a case that cried out for the death penalty it was this one. I believe the death penalty is appropriate in limited cases and this was certainly as appropriate as a case as you could possibly have,” said Pataki.

Also this week, Assemblymember Will Barclay the Minority Leader in the Assembly, gave his reaction to developments in the 2024 Presidential election. He explained what he believed were the key issues that would decide the race for president.

“When you look at polling people are most concerned about cost of living, inflation is through the roof, cost of living is very stressful for people and rightfully so, and again, the migrant crisis, here in New York, but also in other parts of the country, crime continues to be a big issue, and those are the top concerns that Americans have,” said Barclay.

Also this week, Henry Rosoff, a reporter with WPIX in New York City, gave an update on the mayoral race in New York City. To see these interviews and more, here is a list of how you can watch Empire State Weekly in your area of New York:
