Kearney revealed the news on Instagram , saying: “Yall that’s a wrap on my time on SNL ! Reflecting on the amazing 2 seasons I got on this show, it was such a dream come true. So incredibly grateful for this period in my life. So much love to all my big hearted buddies behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week. So many bald caps, so little time. It was a true honor to work with such a talented group of writers and DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CAST.”
Kearney added a “special shout out to my day 1 crew” Marcello Hernandez, Devon Walker and Michael Longfellow, who all joined SNL as featured players at the same time as Kearney.
Kearney, who uses they/them pronouns, became the first openly non-binary cast member in SNL history when they joined in 2022. One of their most memorable SNL moments was a Weekend Update commentary in April 2023 where they dropped in via harness to discuss the rash of anti-LGBTQ bills being introduced across the country. Their other TV credits include A League of Their Own and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers .
