Listen, some cats aren't meant to be barn cats, and they know it. This is how Scooter the stray kitty felt until he decided to do something about it.
The July 31 TikTok video posted by an animal-loving woman named Jordan ( @justbeinjordan_ ) shows how it all started with Scooter versus how it's going. Hint: It's going great. Take a look!
"I know I said no more animals until after baby, but this little guy found us and we all know Im not sayin no," the caption begins. "We named him Scooter. The kids love him and fight over who holds him all day long and yes it makes me crazy."
The 28-second clip first shows donkeys standing guard as Jordan holds the stray cat her husband said they could keep, "but in the barn." Moments later, her kids are holding the kitty, feeding and petting him which very quickly becomes Scooter inside on the couch with Jordan's son, followed by their "barn cat" lying in bed with both kids, soaking up all the love.
"The kids are in love and he's the best daddy, so now our barn cat is an inside cat in less than 12 hours," the video concluded.
This little guy has a mystifying way about him, for sure. Plus, he's just so darn cute, it's no wonder Dad gave in and people are loving this for them.
"Lovely," one person wrote while another commented with emoji hearts. "We love a good indoor/outdoor cat," another added.
Scooter will certainly be living his best life now!

Transitioning an Outdoor Cat to Indoor-Only
Scooter's story has a happy ending, and Point Vicente Animal Hospital says if you've ever found a stray cat you'd like to bring inside , it's best to take it slow. This is to prevent the cat from destructive behaviors they may feel inclined to do now that they're in limited space, bored, and possibly frustrated.
To get them started, give them their own space with all the essentials. Food, water, a litter box, bed, and toys to keep them busy will show them this is their safe space now. It should also be quiet and away from kids or other pets while they adjust.
Provide a cat tree or scratching post to combat the anxiety of being in as well as enrichment games to keep their brains as stimulated as they were outdoors. Above all else, let them transition at their own pace and don't rush it.
We're happy Scooter found his people. And though it may not be a seamless transition for everyone who finds a stray cat, he gives us hope it can be.
