Golden Retriever Brothers' Funny Standoff Belongs in a Western Movie

Sibling relationships can always be a bit tricky — and I'm talking about humans and animals. As parents, all we want is for our children to get along, but fighting is practically inevitable. Sure, it might be a little harder to break up arguments between human kids, but you should never underestimate the drama that comes with having two dogs under the same roof who are ready to square up at a moment's notice. Some dogs are more easy going than others, but some will take any opportunity to compete with their brother or sister.

The positive? It can be so much fun to watch that rivalry play out, like it's doing in the video below. These dogs belong in a western, but for now, this clip will do.

This video shared by @texandranger on Thursday, August 1 shows their Golden Retrievers, Tex and Ranger, facing off in a way that makes me think these brothers must have done this a time or two before!

In what truly looks like an honest to goodness Western standoff, Tex and Ranger both move slowly toward each other, like they're about to draw their guns, before they both jump into action at the same time. How are they so perfectly coordinated when they do this?!

People in the comments were just as impressed by these two as I am. One person wrote, "Who needs TV with these two characters?" So true.

Fortunately, they're not always in standoff mode; the other videos on their TikTok account show Tex and Ranger playing together quite nicely (and likely wearing themselves out in the process. It looks like there's truly never a dull moment with these two!

    Can Dogs Have Sibling Rivalry?

Tex and Ranger seem to get along well enough most of the time, but that's not always the case for many dog siblings out there. So is it the case of two personalities clashing, or can dogs actually have sibling rivalry?

According to Pride+Groom, the answer to that question is yes. This can happen a lot, particularly with puppies from the same litter , and for all kinds of reasons — sometimes, it's natural competitiveness, others, it's all about jealousy or someone being territorial.

There are a few things you can do to help if you've noticed sibling rivalry getting out of hand in your home. If they're fighting over food or possessions, keep toys and treats separated, slowly moving them closer together as the situation improves. You can also offer plenty of positive reinforcement when they spend time together peacefully, like treats and extra pets.

And if all else fails, maybe you could at least train your dogs how to act out a Western showdown themselves. Can't hurt!
