Over the course of the lifespan of the PlayStation 1, some games made it clear that things were never going to be the same again, and other games didn’t have that immediate impact. It’s the latter we’re focusing on here, with 10 PS1 games that were ahead of their time. According to a recent report from Gameplaycassi, the two upcoming action RPGs Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero which were featured in the recent PlayStation ChinaJoy 2024 event caused some worries about being PlayStation exclusives. The developers responded to this by saying they do not currently have console exclusivity deals. According to the report, Journalists present at the ChinaJoy exhibition were able to communicate with representatives of developers Game Science and S-GAME about exclusivity, and they noted PlayStation provides comprehensive support in promoting the games in China and abroad. Additionally, PlayStation are reportedly helping with marketing for Phantom Blade Zero by supplying demo stations at events.

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games released a new teaser trailer announcing that a new Darksiders game is now in development. “Be prepared to ride again…,” reads the teaser’s description. Additional details have yet to be revealed. The latest mainline title in the series Darksiders III launched in 2018 and the latest title, Darksiders Genesis launched on December 5, 2019. Darksiders Genesis is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Nintendo have announced that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team will be added to the Game Boy Advance – Nintendo Switch Online catalog on August 9. A trailer for the game was also released. In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, “you’ve found yourself in a new world, one where you’re now a Pokemon yourself and can speak and interact with other Pokemon.”
