Matt and Jeff Hardy made their names in WWE, and while they have since worked for multiple other promotions, in the eyes of many fans, it remains their home. And now, speculation has commenced online that they could be set to work with WWE again in some capacity, as PWInsider.com has reported the brothers met with officials on Friday in Ohio, where SummerSlam is taking place.

Of course, this doesn’t mean the duo will be returning to WWE as performers, as it could have been about a Legends contract or even a future Hall of Fame induction. However, considering they are working for TNA without a contract, it remains a possibility.

“Matt and Jeff Hardy met with WWE officials earlier today in Cleveland, Ohio, PWInsider.com can exclusively confirm … No word on what was discussed, but we have also heard some content was filmed to be rolled out via WWE digital as well. The Hardys are scheduled for this weekend’s TNA tapings and are signing today at Wrestlecon’s Destination Cleveland.”

The Hardys were recently with WWE’s main rivals, AEW, having felt the grass was greener working for Tony Khan, as they would have a lighter schedule and more creative control. Yet, while it appeared they were set to finish their careers on the big stage working for AEW, Jeff’s DUI and subsequent suspension would seemingly cause Khan to lose faith in building the tag division around them. Still, given their legendary status as a tag team, it wouldn’t come as a massive surprise if WWE did decide to give them one final run, as they have proven in the past to draws.
