Liverpool has added a sixth pre-season friendly to its pre-season schedule, creating a curious afternoon of football against two La Liga opponents.

The Reds will take on Las Palmas in a closed-door friendly from Anfield on August 11, the same day Liverpool faces Sevilla in a public exhibition at its home ground.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch what projects to be a strong Liverpool side take on the Andalusian club at 12:30 p.m. BST, with tickets listed at £27 for adults and just £2 for juniors aged 16 and under, before taking on Las Palmas at 5:30 p.m. Fans will be able to watch the latter contest live on LFCTV GO.

The Sunday doubleheader comes just six days before Liverpool's Premier League opener against Ipswich Town and closes the Reds' preseason slate as it began, with a closed-door friendly. LFC fell 1-0 against Preston North End in Arne Slot's secretive managerial debut at the AXA Training Center on July 19 but have impressed since returning to the public eye.

Dominik Szoboszlai scored Liverpool's lone goal against Real Betis, making a rare center-forward cameo, in a shutout victory over Sevilla's crosstown rivals before Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho helped Liverpool survive an Arsenal rally in Philadelphia. The Reds will close out their American pre-season tour on Saturday against Manchester United , playing at the University of South Carolina's 78,000-seat Williams-Brice Stadium.

According to local outlet Canarias7 , Friday's announcement features a much different format than initially proposed by Liverpool after pressure from the Spanish club, located on the far-flung Canary Islands. The Reds planned to trot out its U-23 side against the La Liga yo-yo club from the AXA Training Center, but Las Palmas' threats to pull out of the match saw LFC change course.

Las Palmas earned comfortable La Liga survival in their first return to the top flight since 2018 despite finishing its final 13 matches without a win. Los Amarillos have played Liverpool just once before during a May 1968 testimonial match, hosting LFC at the now-defunct Estadio Insular the summer before securing a second-place La Liga finish the following season, its most successful ever campaign in the Spanish top flight.

The islanders' have already battled another European giant in their preseason campaign, falling 3-0 to Inter Milan in the central Italian city of Cesena. Las Palmas' exhibition slate also included matchups against Granada, Al Sadd and Como 1907.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's opening match against Sevilla could mark the return of Reds stars Virgil Van Dijk , Luis Diaz , Alisson and Darwin Nunez , who have not yet featured on the US Tour. The exhibition could also give Reds fans a look at former academy product Suso, once a highly-touted academy product who managed just 17 appearances at Anfield. The Spanish forward played 30 matches for Sevilla last season but is currently in the midst of slow-moving contract negotiations.
