Border Collie Gets Into the Cutest 'Argument' with Her Dad Over Eating Plants

There might be easy going dogs out there who are simply happy to go with the flow and follow the rules, but I've never met any of them. All of the dogs I've ever been lucky enough to have in my life have always had a lot of opinions about everything — when, what, and where they eat, which side of the bed they sleep on, the kind of toys they deem acceptable, the way that dental bones are awful and get buried in the backyard... the list goes on and on.

Some people might not believe it's possible to argue with a dog, but when you live with a creature who can be this opinionated, it's absolutely possible... and the TikTok video below is exactly what those moments look like when a dog doesn't get their way and is going to make you hear about it.

One dog dad, @itsmalcontent , shared this hilarious moment when his Border Collie , Mal, chose a very silly hill to die on: She wants to eat houseplants, which her dad will obviously not allow.

That's not what she wants to hear, though — that much is obvious from the way she howls in response when he tries to tell her plant eating is against the rules. At one point, she even paws at him so hard you can hear it on camera. Mal doesn't fight fair!

"Everybody says I have to be nicer to you but you're picking on me," he said. Mal basically proved his point while he was talking, since she couldn't help but interrupt him with another howl.

"I want to be on your side but she always makes such good points," one person wrote in the comments.

Sorry, but the winner of this argument is clearly Mal. I don't make the rules!

    Should Dogs Eat Houseplants?

To put it simply? Probably not, even if they do make a compelling argument like Mal.

As Wag points out, if you catch your dog trying to eat your plants, there's a reason for that and it likely points to a problem needing to be solved, even if that problem is that your dog is bored and needs more stimulation.

Some of the reasons that dogs will chomp on plants include nutritional deficiencies, nausea and stomach upset, or gas, so if this behavior is going on, it doesn't hurt to get them checked out.

And of course, since dogs will be dogs and may take a bite out of your plant no matter how hard you try to prevent it, it's very important to make sure that none of the plants you keep in your home (or in your yard) are toxic to dogs.

Sorry Mal, but you're going to have to find a new hobby. I hear playing fetch is fun?
