Colin Cowherd Ignorantly Calls Baseball Unwilling To Change

Colin Cowherd should probably stick to other sports.
Colin Cowherd seems rather unfamiliar with the sport of baseball. He recently made it known that, for some reason, he thought Derek Jeter played against Nolan Ryan . Maybe it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he would call the MLB unwilling to change, despite the league making some, uh, huge changes in the last few years. Has he been living under a rock?
If Colin Cowherd watched baseball or at least followed the sport, he might be aware of a 30-second countdown that restarts after every pitch. This implement is aptly called the “pitch timer”, a rule change implemented by the MLB in 2023. As one might have guessed by now, it gives pitchers a total of 30 seconds to read the sign from their catcher and deliver. According to their website , the MLB created the device “in an effort to create a quicker pace of play”, a direct response to one of the most repeated criticisms of baseball’s generally slow burn.
The pitch clock is only the start. The National League notably adopted the designated hitter in 2022, ending a nearly 50 year discrepancy between them and the American League. The defensive shift was banned last year . Umpires, for better or for worse, have been cracking down on pitchers using “sticky” foreign substances. Starting in 2020, and made permanent in 2023, teams start each inning with a runner on second in extras. Do I need to keep going?
The only a few reasons for Colin Cowherd to say something like this. Maybe he’s completely ignorant, a total idiot, or he’s trying to rage bait people for engagement. Whatever the case, he should stick to other sports if he can’t be bothered to keep track of what’s happening with America’s favorite pastime.
