LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With less than 100 days to go, Americans are gearing up for November’s election and one group of voters could make the most impact.

When Americans take to the polls in November, they’ll be deciding on the future of our country. For Arkansas voters Jaime Gardner and Wil Cheatham, that’s a conversation they want in on.

“I wanted to be more involved in the policies that speak more to me,” Gardner explained.

Both Cheatham and Gardner had their interest sparked over the past few years: Gardner after college, and Cheatham in law school. But it’s what’s happening now that has them taking action.

“I’ve been tracking them heavily, all the campaigns,” Cheatham said, while Gardner added, “I’ve also been to a couple of rallies, [and] I plan on going to candidate forums closer to election day.”

Cheatham and Gardner are just two examples of a new wave of political engagement, the next generation of voters making an impact. The past few elections have seen a record turnout of Millennials and Gen Z taking to the polls, a trend that’s only expected to continue in November.

With the presidency on the line, candidates have realized how critical young voters are and are doing all they can to get their votes.

“I think we’re certainly seeing a shift to the younger generations and that is most plainly evidenced I think by President Trump’s pick of Senator JD Vance,” said Cheatham.

“I feel like a lot of campaigns now are trying to target more of like younger Gen Z audiences by doing more campaigns focused on like TikTok and Instagram,” Gardner said.

With the countdown on and every ballot able to make a difference, both voters have a message to young Americans: get out and make your voice heard.

In Arkansas, voters have until Oct. 7 to register to vote in the November election. Cheatham and Gardner also say to get educated; know who and what you’re voting for and then show up to cast your ballot.
