Vice President Harris’s campaign hit Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who former President Trump picked to be his running mate last month, with a fiery Happy Birthday message online.

“At 78 and 40, Donald Trump and his sidekick, the most unpopular VP pick in American history, are running on an agenda to drag our country backwards, reverse the progress we’ve made, and ensure Americans have fewer freedoms in the next generation than they had in the last,” the campaign posted Friday evening on social media platform X.

Harris’s team also said voters were rejecting Project 2025 — pinning the conservative agenda on Vance and the GOP nominee, who has denied being associated with the project. The message also accused the duo of trying to “rip away our freedoms,” and increase costs on the middle class and “fan the flames of hatred and division.”

“While we wish JD a happy 40th, the American people will make certain that he celebrates his 41st anywhere but the White House,” the campaign wrote on X.

Trump officially selected Vance to join his ticket at the Republican National Convention last month in Milwaukee. The freshman senator’s had a rocky start thus far, with some Republicans even questioning the former president’s decision.

Vance has also come under fire for his previous comments about “childless cat ladies” and stance that Americans who have children should have more of a say in democracy since they have more of a stake in its future.

The Harris campaign said Vance is “already a disaster” as the vice-presidential pick, arguing that Trump may have “buyer’s remorse” now that the senator isn’t performing well.

The Ohio Republican has hit back at Harris, too, saying she is “a million times worse” than President Biden. He also said he was frustrated that Biden dropped out of the race last month because he was looking forward to debating the vice president.

Still, the Harris campaign and other top Democrats are cashing in on Vance’s unpopularity, calling Trump and the senator “weird.”

Vance’s spokesperson, William Martin, criticized Harris’s team for the birthday message.

“Kamala’s team of bullied, woke losers can send out embarrassingly cringe statement all they want, but it doesn’t change the fact that Kamala Harris struggles to string together coherent sentences and is too incompetent to answer simple questions from the press about her dangerously liberal agenda,” Martin said in a statement to The Hill.

Martin said the American people can see through Harris’s “phony act” and will “soundly reject her radicalism this November,” no matter how hard her team “tries to hide her from media scrutiny and keep her in tightly choreographed situations.”
