Flavor Flav, Alexis Ohanian offer to pay USA discus thrower Veronica Fraley's rent during Paris Olympics

Flavor Flav has become one of the stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics, even from the sidelines. Much of that has to do with his unlikely connection with the U.S. women's water polo team .

The 65-year-old rapper didn't stop there, though. He also offered his services — and wallet — to another member of the U.S. Olympic delegation: discus thrower Veronica Fraley.

Fraley took to X, the website formerly known as Twitter, to reveal that she couldn't pay her rent. The 24-year-old, who is enrolled at Vanderbilt as a graduate student athlete, said the school only covered about 75% of her housing expenses.

Fraley's struggles were of special importance to the famed Public Enemy MC, who vowed to take care of Fraley's rent in the hopes of allowing her to ease her mind ahead of her Olympic competition.

Flavor Flav wasn't the only one moved by Fraley's testimony. So too was Reddit co-founder (and Serena Williams' husband) Alexis Ohanian, who offered to split the bill with Flavor Flav.

As it turns out, he did a lot more than that. Ohanian opted to pay off the remainder of Fraley's rent this year — $7,760. He revealed the gesture by posting a screenshot of the transaction on social media.

Fraley failed to advance out of the qualifying round in the discus throw competition Friday, finishing one spot out of contention. Still, Flavor Flav and Ohanian's gesture could go a long way in relieving Fraley of some financial anxiety, which could be as good as gold.
