When is transfer deadline day? Liverpool fans find out when summer window 2024 closes

Liverpool has just under a month left to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

While the Reds are yet to make a signing to improve Arne Slot's squad this summer, they will be hoping they can do business throughout August that will put them in the best possible position to compete this term across multiple fronts.

The summer transfer window opened up last month for the Premier League , English Football League (EFL), and Scottish Premiership. It will slam shut at the end of the month of Friday, August 30th at 11pm in England and 11:30pm in Scotland (local time). That means the Premier League's transfer window will close at 6pm ET.

The closing dates for deadline day are all in-sync with the other five big leagues, with Germany's Bundesliga, Italy's Serie A, France's Ligue 1, and Spain's La Liga all seeing their transfer window close on August 30th too.

And with the Premier League season set to begin on August 17th in just over two weeks time, the Reds will have to be proactive if they want to reinforce their squad before their clash against newly promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

It seems more than likely Liverpool will bring in a couple of new faces ahead of the window slamming shut, but in the event it doesn't, it will not be able to sign a player until January 1st of the new year. The winter window then closes on Monday, February 3rd.

Who do you want to see Liverpool sign in August before the transfer window slams shut? Let us know in the comments section below.

Arguably the biggest transfer story currently involving the Reds is the news Newcastle United attempted to pull off a PSR (profit and sustainability rules) swap deal with Liverpool that would have seen Joe Gomez and Anthony Gordon head in opposite directions. The Magpies proposed signing Gomez for $57m (£45m/€52m), with Gordon heading in the other way for $96m (£75m/€88m).

Gomez was reportedly interested in moving to Tyneside, with the move allowing him to play center-back full-time as opposed to operating at full-back. Initially, Newcastle tried to sign Jarell Quansah as part of the swap deal for Gordon, only for the Reds to reject its proposal.

The Reds had no interest in letting Quansah go, a player they rate highly. And with Liverpool having headed on its US tour without so many of its first team squad due to international commitments, it might be the case that there is more activity on the transfer front when Slot gets to work with the returning contingent of Reds players.

Liverpool.com says: It's been a rather quiet, if silent start to the transfer window for Liverpool this summer. However, that does not mean the Reds won't bring in bodies this month. They know that if they want to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal this term, they will have to improve the quality of their squad.
