Olympic men's gymnastics results: Stephen Nedoroscik wins bronze for USA in 2024 pommel horse final

No glasses? No problem for Stephen Nedoroscik.

The Team USA specialist finished his Olympic debut with a second medal, a bronze in the pommel horse event final. He's the first individual medalist for the U.S. men's gymnastics team since 2016, when Alexander Naddour captured bronze on the same event.

The 2024 pommel horse final marked a historic moment in men's gymnastics. Rhys McClenaghan won gold with a 15.533, marking Ireland's first Olympic medal in gymnastics. Nariman Kurbanov, who went first in the rotation, scored a 15.433 for silver and for Kazakhstan's first Olympic gymnastics medal.

It's a day that will be remembered in men's gymnastics history, but especially for Nedoroscik fans.

The Rubik's cube-loving gymnast became a hero when he helped the United States win bronze in the team final, its first team medal in 16 years. "Pommel Horse Guy," as he became known, was the only U.S. gymnast to qualify for an individual event final, allowing him to further his legacy on the apparatus.

And that's what he did, scoring a 15.300 to narrowly clinch the bronze ahead of two-time defending champion Max Whitlock of Great Britain.

The U.S. men's gymnastics team is now done at the Paris Olympics, but the squad is only getting started.

12:15 p.m. – History on the pommel horse! McClenaghan earns gold Ireland's first ever Olympic gymnastics medal, silver Kurbanov for Kazakhstan's first Olympic gymnastics medal and Nedoroscik earns bronze for USA's first pommel horse podium finish since 2016.

Here's the final standings.

12:13 p.m. – An unfortunate ending for Hur as he doesn't quite make it over the apparatus and falls off. It results in a 14.300.

12:12 p.m. – Ukraine's Verniaiev shows off incredible difficulty, but form breaks results in a score of 14.966. One athlete remains.

12:09 p.m. – While full of excellence, Sugino's routine also just had a few too many deductions. The team gold medalist will not earn a medal on pommel horse, scoring a 14.933.

12:02 p.m. – Absolutely pure joy from Nedoroscik. The American gets a 15.300, and it's going to be close. He sits in third with three gymnasts left.

11:58 a.m. – Rhys McClenaghan, what a day! The Irishman has the routine of a lifetime, taking over first place in the standings with a massive 15.533. The two-time World champion is one step closer to his first Olympic medal.

11:54 a.m. – De Munck starts off swinging but comes off at the end of the routine. He scores a 13.733.

11:50 a.m. – Whitlock has a few pauses that ultimately cost him. He puts up a 15.200. The two-time defending gold medalist will not win this year's title. A new victor will be crowned in Paris.

11:47 a.m. – Kurbanov starts it off with a huge 15.433.

11:44 a.m. – Nedoroscik breaks out the "pommel dance" as he waits for his turn to compete.

11:26 a.m. – Women's vault finals is complete. It's just a matter of time until the best eight gymnasts attack the pommel horse in the men's finals.

10:10 a.m. – Nedoroscik will be up fifth on the pommel horse. Reignng gold medalist Max Whitlock of Great Britain will compete second.
