Eric Bischoff: Roman Reigns Returning At WWE SummerSlam Would Be Too Soon

Fans haven’t seen Roman Reigns since he lost to Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 40. The WWE Universe is buzzing about his potential return at WWE SummerSlam . However, Eric Bischof says it’s too soon.

Speaking on 83 Weeks , Eric Bischoff was asked whether he thought that Roman Reigns would return at WWE SummerSlam.

“I hope not. I hope not. It’s too soon,” he said. “There’s been so much going on in WWE. First of all, just step back. If you’re a wrestling fan that watches [every show], if you just step back and look at wrestling and what we’ve seen on TV like a chessboard and how the major pieces have been moving around, Roman’s gone, but there’s been so many moves on the chess board since that time that it’s hard to even recognize, oh, yeah, he’s been gone.

“There’s so much going on. Nobody’s missing him. There’s no, down in your subconscious, ‘God, I’d really like to see Roman show up. I wonder if Roman’s gonna surprise us tonight.’ They’re not there yet.”

Eric Bischoff: Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Eric Bischoff then stated that a star needed to be absent for a while to build the desire to see them again. Regarding Roman Reigns, Bischoff said that SummerSlam would be rushing it.

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder only works if the absence is substantive enough to create a desire amongst the audience to see the star,” he said. “Otherwise, you’re just on a coffee break emotionally. So I hope not because I think that would be rushing it in my opinion. But I don’t know their business. I’m just going by my gut feel and a little bit of experience.”
