Divorce rumors continue to ramp up, and a source said that Lopez and Affleck’s kids don’t want to allow their parents’ separation to “ruin” their friendships.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck knew that getting married involved bringing their kids together. Lopez had her twins, Max and Emme Muñiz, 16, during her marriage to Marc Anthony. Affleck had three kids — Violet, 18; Fin, 15; and Samuel, 12 — during his 10-year marriage to Jennifer Garner. Photos have shown how close Lopez is with Affleck’s kids , and all five seem to get along.

A source told In Touch Weekly that all five kids “know what’s happening” between Lopez and Affleck as divorce rumors loom. The couple tied the knot in 2022, and talk of a separation began as early as April 2024.

“The kids are old enough to know what’s happening,” the insider said. “Obviously, they’re very sad about it. In a perfect world, they’d love it if there was a way that Ben and J.Lo could work things out, but they’re all pretty well resigned that’s not happening.”

The insider added that the kids aren’t “meddling” in their parents’ affairs to get them back together. Overall, they want Lopez and Affleck to find happiness, separately or together. And they don’t want to lose the friendships they formed with one another.

“What is true is that they’re vowing not to let this affect their bond,” the source continued. “They’ve all been in touch throughout this split, and Emme and Fin especially are staying super close. … They’re not going to let this divorce ruin what they have.”

A source told Entertainment Tonight that all of Affleck and Lopez’s kids “get along super well,” making the couple’s transition from dating to marriage easy.

“Ben and Jen’s kids get along super well, and everything has been easy and seamless on that front, which has been really nice for them,” the source said. “Ben and Jen Garner are also in a good place. They have a mutual understanding that their children come first and are committed to that.”

While Emme Muñiz and Fin Affleck hang out in Los Angeles, Jennifer Lopez spent time with Ben Affleck’s oldest child, Violet Affleck, in the Hamptons. The stepmom and stepdaughter were seen shopping together in July 2024 in New York.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that Violet and Lopez’s close relationship is “tricky” for the father of three. However, he wants to encourage them to maintain closeness no matter what happens between Lopez and him.

“Ben certainly doesn’t want to cause any strain between Jen and Violet, and he is in support of them spending time together,” the source explained. “It’s a little tricky for him, but both Jen and Ben want all their kids to be happy, regardless of the issues they are facing in their marriage.”
