There are few things more gut-wrenching than losing a parent. Death is difficult no matter what your age or profession.  It can be particularly tough for teachers to live out their grief if they have young students.

Lindsay Schraad Keeling was 7 years old when her computer teacher’s mom passed away. Lindsay had a big heart and decided to send her teacher a sympathy card. Now, 25 years later, her hilarious childhood sentiment has gone viral.

Lindsay posted the card she made on TikTok, which blew up with 3.2 million views. Lindsay was nothing if not direct as a child and told her teacher exactly what was on her mind. She stapled together several pieces of paper that began with,

“By Lindsay to computer teacher.” Followed by, “Sory teacher” and a hand-drawn computer.

On the following pages, Lindsay wrote, “I am so sory computer teacher that your mom had to die.”

“But evry body hasts to die some day,” she wrote alongside another computer. “And today it was your moms turn to die.”

She ended the note with, “Love love is in your hart.”

Before She Handed The Sympathy Card Off, Lindsay Shared It With Her Mom

And bless her, the mom confiscated it. Lindsay told People , “I showed my mom the letter after I wrote it, and she very politely said we should keep it at home for now. I had forgotten about it.”

The letter sat at home for years until she uncovered it while going through keepsakes after her beloved grandfather died.

“I’m so glad she didn’t let me give it to her! I thought the card was hilarious, so I snapped some pictures of it and turned it into a TikTok,” she continued. “I think it brought a lot of joy to people, especially to those who, like me, lost a loved one and needed a good laugh.”

Her TikTok delivered, and so did the comment section.

Someone wrote, “My favorite part is that her name is just computer teacher,” someone laughed.

This person thought Lindsay should have sent the note anyway. “If I was your teacher, that honestly would have made me feel better.”

And this comment just made us and 65,000 other people laugh, “This reads like you’re the one who did it.”
