Calico Kitty Becomes a Totally Different Animal When Guests Come Over and It's Too Cute

Does anyone else have a cat who practically adopts a new personality when new people are around? Some become way more active and outgoing so they can suss out the new people (and find out exactly how interested they might be in offering up a few pets or cuddles), like my tuxedo cat, Rapunzel, who jumps at the chance to make a new friend. And then there are cats like my tabby cat, Luke, who immediately runs and hides as soon as he hears someone at the door, only coming out if he hears a familiar voice and realizes the person who came over is someone he has met before.

But the kitty in this TikTok video? She's on another level. It's very clear that she wants to be the center of attention, and after seeing this footage, I think it's safe to say that she accomplished her goal.

Earlier this week, the humans who belong to Biskit the Calico shared a video of what she does when they have guests over. Spoiler alert: She literally bounces off the walls.

I'm not really sure what exactly she was trying to do in this video; she's clearly trying to make some kind of jump off the couch, but did she really think she was going to stick the landing on that narrow mantle?

She learned her lesson the hard way and crashed straight to the floor before picking herself up and acting like nothing happened,

"Biskit likes everyone to know she is a WILD child," said the caption. Yep, I'd say so!

She probably didn't manage to impress whoever it was she was trying to impress, but she undoubtedly made them laugh. And in my opinion, that's an even better skill.

    Can Cats Feel Embarrassed?

My main question while watching this adorable video: Did Biskit feel embarrassed when she didn't make that jump, or is she even capable of that emotion? Is that something we project onto our pets?

According to Dr. Gemma Cliffin for Cats.com , it's not clear if cats feel complex emotions likeĀ embarrassment. Even if their behavior after doing something like missing a jump or getting a claw caught in a blanket seems to point to embarrassment (like hiding, or even the surprised expression on their face), that's not necessarily how they're feeling ā€” it might just be that they're responding to our reaction to what happened.

If you want to imagine your cat is feeling embarrassed, go for it. It doesn't harm them, and you might be able to feel like you can bond with and relate to them better because of it.

Just make sure you're prepared for a show if you're having company over and your cat is anything like Biskit!
