"I always prefer to add some height with wide leg pants to help balance the added volume in the silhouette. Wedges, platforms or even pointed heels will help create length through the legs," says Brown. "Ballet flats, while trendy, don’t look best with these wider silhouettes. A pointed toe in a flat will work better!" says Brown.

A bit of a heel helps to elongate legs and the pants, and the sandal aspect of the shoe (i.e. open-toed and the foot not fully covered) will help ensure you're not adding extra bulk to your outfit. Sometimes, super chunky shoes that are also closed-toe adds too much texture and material that can overwhelm the pants.
