There’s a new American hero at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and his name is Stephen Nedoroscik ! The pommel horse king became a viral internet sensation when he came through for Team USA at the Men’s Gymnastics Team Finals on Monday. Today, Stephen Nedoroscik will attempt to pommel his way to a Gold Medal in the Apparatus Finals. Will he whip off the glasses, Clark Kent-style, once more and become a superhero again? Can the United States of America get a gold medal in Men’s Gymnastics? Will a Rubik’s Cube make an appearance!?!? Will our pommel horse king ride to victory at the Olympics?
Fans of gymnastics know that our nation is no stranger to taking home Olympic gold. Earlier this week, Simone Biles helped clinch Team USA’s gold medal win for the Women’s Gymnastics Team Finals before taking home the gold for Women’s All-Around on Thursday. However, the boys have had a harder time bringing home medals from the Olympics.
Team USA’s Monday Men’s Team bronze medal win was the first time our male gymnasts had brought a medal home since 2008. While it was a team effort — thanks to the incredible combined performances of Brody Malone, Frederick Richard, Paul Juda, and Asher Hong — Americans quickly rallied around the group’s anchor, pommel horse specialist Stephen Nodorscik.
For the entire competition, Nodorscik was forced to hang back in his glasses and sweats, waiting for his one make-or-break performance for Team USA. Nodorscik not only delivered, but became a social media sweetheart.
Obsessed with this guy on the US men's gymnastics team who's only job is pommel horse, so he just sits there until he's activated like a sleeper agent, whips off his glasses like Clark Kent and does a pommel horse routine that helps deliver the team its first medal in 16 years. pic.twitter.com/0D1ZqJjFa1
Absolutely sick that America brought Stephen Nedoroscik, some nerd from Massachusetts, to Paris who’s sole purpose in life is to ball out on the pommel horse. And in the biggest moment of his life. He pommeled the FUCK out of that horse. Long live pommel horse guy #OlympicGames pic.twitter.com/DcX5GC7OWV
According to NBC’s official Olympics site, the Men’s Pommel Horse Final will only be available on digital. That is, you’ll have to stream it live on Peacock.
