American gymnast Simone Biles won her third gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics during the women's vault final on Saturday (August 3).

Biles, the most decorated American gymnast in history, scored 15.30, with Brazil's Rebeca Andrade taking silver with a score of 14.966 and fellow USA teammate Jade Carey taking bronze with 14.466. The 27-year-old became the oldest gymnast in history to win the women's individual all-around final on Thursday (August 1) and first American to ever the win twice, having previously won the all-around during her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Biles also led Team USA to gold in the women's team final on Tuesday (July 30). Biles' three gold medal victories at the 2024 Paris Games continue her Olympic redemption tour after she withdrew from most of the competition at the Tokyo Games due to "the twisties," a temporary loss of air awareness suffered by gymnasts while performing twisting elements. The gold medalist is still scheduled to compete in the vault, floor exercise and balance beam events.
