Algeria's boxing champ Imane Khelif has just bagged an Olympic Medal after beating Hungary's hopeful , Luca Anna Hamori, on points in the women's 66kg quarterfinals at North Paris Arena.

Hamori had earlier kicked up quite the fuss about having to face Khelif , following controversy in Khelif's victory over Italy's Angela Carini.

She reckoned it wasn't quite right for her to be squaring off with Khelif, while questioning her womanhood, though it has been clarified that she was born a woman .

On her social media, Hamori vented: "In my humble opinion I don't think it's fair that this contestant can compete in the women's category," but conceded defeat in the argument, saying "But I cannot concern myself with that now. I cannot change it, it's life. I can promise you one thing... I will do my best to win and I will fight as long as I can!"

The match itself started with a bang, both pugilists trading blows, with Hamori getting a read on Khelif's playbook towards the end of round one.

Nevertheless, it was Khelif who dominated the judges' scorecards when all was said and done, and she now knows she will be guaranteed a medal of some sort.
