American Sha'Carri Richardson took silver in the women's 100-meter track final at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday (August 3).

Richardson, 24, who won gold in the same event at the 2023 World Championships, finished behind Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, having also finished second behind Alfred in the semifinal heat earlier in the day. Alfred, the 2024 World Indoor Champion, is Saint Lucia's first Olympic gold medalist in history.

Richardson's 100-meter performance begins her Olympic redemption tour, having been suspended for one month by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after submitting a sample that tested positive for THC metabolites indicating cannabis use, which prohibited her from competing in the 100-meter at the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. The former LSU standout could have competed in the women's 4x100-meter relay, however, was not selected and missed the Tokyo Olympics entirely .
