PlayStation Plus Free Games for August 2024 Announced

According to a recent report from Gameplaycassi, the two upcoming action RPGs Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero which were featured in the recent PlayStation ChinaJoy 2024 event caused some worries about being PlayStation exclusives. The developers responded to this by saying they do not currently have console exclusivity deals. According to the report, Journalists present at the ChinaJoy exhibition were able to communicate with representatives of developers Game Science and S-GAME about exclusivity, and they noted PlayStation provides comprehensive support in promoting the games in China and abroad. Additionally, PlayStation are reportedly helping with marketing for Phantom Blade Zero by supplying demo stations at events.

In today's Daily Fix: Sony is releasing a limited edition Astro Bot-themed DualSense controller, and you don't need to enter some sweepstakes to get it (ahem...Xbox). Pre-orders for the controller will go live Friday August 9th at 7am PT at direct.playstation.com. The controller and the new Astro Bot game will launch a month later on September 6th. Yesterday, the Xbox 360 Marketplace was shut down, meaning gamers can no longer purchase new content from the service. However, gamers can still download content they already own, including full games and DLC.

Xbox Game Studios and developer Obsidian Entertainment have announced that the upcoming action RPG Avowed has been delayed from its previous fall 2024 release window to February 18 to make sure the game has “the best launch possible”. In Avowed, players “are the envoy of Aedyr, a distant land, sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague. You discover a personal connection to the land itself and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything.”

Avowed Has Been Delayed to Next Year

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games released a new teaser trailer announcing that a new Darksiders game is now in development. “Be prepared to ride again…,” reads the teaser’s description. Additional details have yet to be revealed. The latest mainline title in the series Darksiders III launched in 2018 and the latest title, Darksiders Genesis launched on December 5, 2019. Darksiders Genesis is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
