In another thrilling race in São Paulo, Brazil this weekend, Daniel Suárez came out on top, once again a penalty was responsible. In his first NASCAR Brasil race, Suárez crossed in P1 but had a penalty wipe it away, this time he finished P2 but won after Lucas Mendes had a penalty.

This race started with chaos. 20 minutes on the clock at the Autodromo de Interlagos. Into the first turn, cars were spinning and wrecking. Sheet metal all over. Did I mention that this was a night race with headlights on the cars?

Even after the caution, debris was all over the track. Still, the race went on. Daniel Suárez is still learning how to race in NASCAR Brasil, but he’s already got a W .

NASCAR Brasil seems to have racing rules similar to Supercars or a similar series. You can rub and race aggressively, but there is a fine line. With how Suárez is used to racing in the United States, it is an adjustment.

That is a big reason why the Trackhouse Racing driver wasn’t able to win the first race. He was relegated to P6 with a five-second penalty.

The second race was fun to watch. Free on YouTube. A night race in NASCAR? You don’t get that anywhere else, I don’t believe, except for Brazil. Fresh off his wedding, Suárez is having fun and racing very well.

Daniel Suárez penalized in Race 1

Now, in the NASCAR Cup Series, rubbing is racing . Unlike touring series around the world, or an F1 for example, rough racing penalties are very rare. Putting the bumper to someone to make a pass, allowed. Put the door to them to get around, sure, why not?

Daniel Suárez raced Leo Torres a little tough. He got physical, but it didn’t look egregious. The newlywed isn’t too worried about it as he received a five-second hit and dropped to P6.

The NASCAR Brasil officials did not appreciate the driving that Suárez was displaying. So, they punished him for it. At least he knows for the next race coming up this evening, and Sunday’s race as well.

Daniel Suárez went to Brazil to get married and decided to do a little racing while he was there. He’s already had one win taken and earned another win.
