After scoring his 13th career win six weeks ago at UFC Saudi Arabia, Shara Magomedov returned to the Octagon on Saturday night in Abu Dhabi for a short-notice scrap with Polish powerhouse Michał Oleksiejczuk. ‘Bullet’ entered his second fight in as many months on the heels of a big win over Antonio Trócoli in Riyadh. Before that, the undefeated Russian bested Bruno Silva at UFC 294 in October.

Today’s UFC Abu Dhabi event was headlined by a men’s bantamweight bout between Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov. Sandhagen (17-5 MMA) had entered this afternoon’s main event sporting a three-fight winning streak, his most previous being a unanimous decision victory over Rob Font 12 months ago. Prior to that victory, ‘Sandman’ had earned wins over Marlon Vera and Song Yadong respectively.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in the Arabian Gulf this afternoon (Sat., Aug. 3, 2024) with UFC Abu Dhabi on ABC. The mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place inside Etihad Arena — a.k.a. “Fight Island” — in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, streamed LIVE on ABC and ESPN+. The main event was a Bantamweight title eliminator with Cory Sandhagen meeting the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov. The co-main did not feature Nick Diaz because of “travel issues.” His bout with Vicente Luque was scrapped, but in its place we had Shara Magomedov fighting Michal Oleksiejczuk.
