Arne Slot and his coaching staff are managing Szoboszlai's minutes and no risks are being taken with the Hungarian, with the decision taken to leave him out of this game so as not to overwork him. The 23-year-old Hungary star has featured in matches against Real Betis and Arsenal but Ryan Gravenberch , who rejoined his teammates a few days ago, replaces him here.
Szoboszlai could be back for the friendly at Anfield against Sevilla (or the Las Palmas match which will take place on the same day). His absence from this match is simply fatigue.
"I think it's our 13th day of the tour," Slot told the Reds' official website . "Dominik joined every session and every game, and we played the last one two days ago.
"I think it's a bit of fatigue and we don't want to take any risks because we fly back to Liverpool tonight and on Tuesday all the other players arrive as well, so we want to start off then with all the players available and we didn't want to take any risk with him today."
Alexis Mac Allister is not part of the Liverpool squad for this match either despite the Argentine joining up with his teammates in the USA earlier this week. Like the rest of the South Americans and those who went further in Euro 2024, his first appearance of the summer will come back on Merseyside.
Liverpool.com says: No risks are being taken and that is a sensible approach. Hopefully there are no injuries in what could be a fiesty game between the two old rivals in South Carolina.
