( WJW ) – You might not get invited to every wedding your friends and family have, but have you ever gotten a “you are not invited” card to let you know?

According to a post on Reddit , that is one couple’s plan for their upcoming ceremony invitations.

The poster, a family member of the engaged couple, took to Reddit after being surprised by the idea of sending cards to the people who didn’t make the cut on the guest list.

The family member said in part, “I just found out that the wedding couple is sending ‘cards’ to people that are not invited that they are getting married soon and ‘you are in our hearts on this special day’ BEFORE the wedding. Their excuse is for the sake of ‘curiosity and thinking of them.’ But what I don’t understand is why send this BEFORE the wedding. It would make more sense AFTER and send it out to them.”

According to the post , the wedding is about five hours away from “where everybody lives” and the couple wanted the wedding to be small due to their budget.

According to the post , the couple has also told its guests that everyone has a role to help them set up, including the tables at the reception.

“I was like what??? They never ASKED if people were willing to do that,” the post continued. “ Where is the respect, etiquette and morals? They said that financially they can’t hire people to set up.”

Nearly 200 people commented in the Reddit post saying, “What they are planning sucks and is rude and that’s reason to not attend,” and “This wedding sounds like a trainwreck.”

Another commenter said, “I am always looking for excuses not to go to a wedding, and this one would be a jackpot.”

The Reddit post also said that the bride plans to have a bridal shower with friends on the guest list who are not invited to the wedding.

One commenter said, “Your cousin sounds like they don’t have a good grasp on manners and how to treat guests. The cards make it sound like a cash grab before the wedding.”

The post ended by saying, “Wish me luck on this upcoming wedding!”
