On Saturday, Biles won her third gold medal in the Summer Games after topping the vault individual event. Biles once again beat Brazil's Rebeca Andrade, who gave her quite a scare in the all-around final.
The 27-year-old gymnast performed her signature Yurchenko double pike — also called Biles II — which earned her a 15.700. The Yurchenko double pike is considered the most difficult move in women’s gymnastics.
For her second routine on the vault, she did a "Cheng" that involves a half-turn going to the table and then a one and half twist while on air. She scored 14.900 for the performance. Between the two, Biles averaged 15.300 to secure gold.
Andrade, for her part, averaged 14.966. She also did a Cheng that earned her a 14.833, but Biles' near-flawless Yurchenko double pike proved to be too much to overcome.
After Biles' win, Owens quickly took to Instagram to share how proud he is of his partner. In a fiery message, the Chicago Bears safety also let the doubters know how wrong they are about Biles.
"What they gone say now!!!!!!" Owens wrote.
While Simone Biles has a lot of fans and followers, there are also people who keep criticizing her because of what happened in the Tokyo Olympics. For those unaware, Biles suffered a severe case of the twisties that forced her to withdraw from the Games in 2021.
Several critics called her a quitter for her decision, and many still can't move on from that, even amid her return.
Biles, however, has silenced all those haters as she continues to cement herself as the greatest gymnast of all time. As for Jonathan Owens, he's simply ecstatic to see his wife succeed.
