After her first appearance on the show 20 years ago, Carrie Underwood will return as a judge to bring in some much-needed new talent to the music industry.
Underwood first took to the stage in 2005 as a contestant, and she completely blew her competition away to win. This launched her very successful and well-deserved country music career. Since her Idol appearance, she has won countless awards, stared in movies, and even had time to start a beautiful family.
She will be replacing pop star Katy Perry, who has been with the show for the last seven seasons. Although Perry has similar success in music, I think it is about time the nation puts Underwood in the lime-light again.
In an interview with "Good Morning America," Underwood voiced a concern she has as she enters her role as a judge:
"I feel like I’ll be very honest but hopefully constructive and encouraging."
Although Underwood was hesitant to share this concern, I personally cannot wait to hear her honest opinion about the talent that will step forward for the new season. She is among one of the most qualified talents in the music industry, and she will only let the best proceed to a professional career.
The fourth season of 'American Idol' truly changed the music industry when Carrie Underwood was crowned the champion, opening up so many doors for her, as well as listeners for years to come.
Contestants of the upcoming season will hopefully bring their very best voices and charisma because Underwood does not sound like she will be messing around. If anyone thought the singing competition was getting old, this new change at the judge's table will be the breath of fresh air viewers, like me, needed.
'American Idol' will begin its new season in the spring of 2025, where the judges, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood, will bring America a new wave of musical talent. The show can be viewed live on ABC and streamed on Hulu.
