Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in the Arabian Gulf this afternoon (Sat., Aug. 3, 2024) with UFC Abu Dhabi on ABC. The mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place inside Etihad Arena — a.k.a. “Fight Island” — in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, streamed LIVE on ABC and ESPN+. The main event was a Bantamweight title eliminator with Cory Sandhagen meeting the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov. The co-main did not feature Nick Diaz because of “travel issues.” His bout with Vicente Luque was scrapped, but in its place we had Shara Magomedov fighting Michal Oleksiejczuk.

UFC 308 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 26th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On Saturday, Dana White announced that Ilia Topuria (15-0) is set to defend his UFC Featherweight Championship for the first time against BMF Champion Max Holloway (26-7) in the main event of UFC 308. Topuria won the Featherweight Title at UFC 298 by defeating Alexander Volkanovski via KO in round 2.
