Erik ten Hag 'not happy' as Arne Slot forces Man Utd boss into Liverpool admission

Erik ten Hag admitted to being unhappy with his own team as he gave his verdict on Liverpool under Arne Slot following the Reds’ 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Liverpool made it three wins out of three in the United States as it ended its tour in style in South Carolina. Goals from Fabio Carvalho , Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas secured a comfortable victory against the Reds’ old rivals.

Although Slot still feels there’s more for his side to improve on , he can no doubt be happy with what he’s seen from his side on tour. The same can’t be said for Ten Hag .

Coming off the back of a poor season which was rescued by victory in the FA Cup final, United’s problems were laid bare Stateside as Liverpool looked a level above . While admitting as much in his post-match comments, Ten Hag admitted to being displeased with his own side.

“There were mixed feelings, I would say,” Ten Hag told his club’s media. “I think I have seen positive bits, but the way we concede goals, we are, of course, not happy with it.

“Of course, Liverpool are a very good side. They are very aggressive, and they have lots of goalscoring abilities, so they did very well. But the way we conceded, we are not happy with it.”

Both sides will now return to the UK with just under two weeks to go until the new Premier League season gets underway. Liverpool faces two more pre-season outings before then, facing both Sevilla and Las Palmas on August 11.

United, meanwhile, face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley. Having already been beaten by Liverpool and Arsenal in pre-season, another defeat to a Premier League side could indicate another difficult season is in store at Old Trafford.

Liverpool.com says: You can never read too much into pre-season games, but when you’re this close to the new season, you do have to start drawing some conclusions. While things look promising for Liverpool, the same can’t be said for United.

They’re still giving up plenty of chances like they were last season, and while they obviously still have players to come back like Liverpool, it’s not exactly a promising sign when the likes of Casemiro and Victor Lindelof are still featuring despite the obvious need to move them on.

If this is a sign of things to come, we think we know who’s getting the last laugh out of Slot and Ten Hag.
