I feel like we know this team pretty well so I was struggling to ask questions. If you guys have anything you want to know please refer a question and I’ll get it answered.

The team is three practices into fall camp with the fourth occurring tonight in DKR. They’ll also have a walk-through today so it’s almost like a two-a-day.

    Some scattershooting.

***The defensive tackles already look better than they did in the spring. The two new additions of Bill Norton and Jermayne Lole certainly help but overall the group is showing to be much more disciplined when it comes to holding their gaps.

***Friday evening’s practice was in shells but they were going thud tempo rather than tackling. The defense probably held the slight upper hand per one source, but it was close.

***”There’s just so much competition on this team from the ones to the threes. I think they’ll be able to win games by any means necessary. It could be a dominant offense one week, then the defense, and then watch out if they put it all together.”

***This source likes the tight ends more and more. Amari Niblack is still learning protections but he’s coming along. “Gunnar Helm is a good blocker.” “Juan Davis has been awesome.” He made it sound like Texas has three TE1.

***Wide receiver is another position with tons of options. Silas Bolden was again the first player mentioned but we also had customary mentions of Isaiah Bond and Ryan Wingo. Then Johntay Cook and DeAndre Moore were also named. Matthew Golden was mentioned as looking good in the slot. All of these guys are ready to start so it’ll be interesting to see how the coaches manage the room.

***Trey Moore is the starting Sam when they go base and then he’s the starter when they’re in nickel. It doesn’t sound like he’s coming off the field much unless it’s to rotate. Ethan Burke is Barryn Sorrell’s backup but he’ll play a lot. Burke as the Jack on third and long makes a lot of sense. Justice Finkley is Moore’s backup but that could change if Colin Simmons and Colton Vasek have anything to say about it.

    ***“O-line communicating better than ever.”

***”You can tell Sark is excited about where Quinn Ewers is. He’s offering Ewers more praise than ever for making the right reads.”

***Overall there are fewer missed assignments and busts than during the Spring.

***It’s all good news so far. More padded practices and scrimmages might expose some flaws but we’re not there yet.

***They’ll be off on Sunday and then return to the field at 9:00 a.m on Monday.
