Why is this event not being covered by local news?

The Vinton Voice reports that people were sharing the news on social media that a loud boom and a frightening flash of light was seen early Sunday morning in Vinton and Roanoke.

I was up at 4:30 a.m. and heard nothing. I read the article at seven, and it's now noon. Only one person commented on the Vinton Voice Facebook page that they heard the noise.

Neither News 7 nor News 10 has reported on the issue at this time. WFIR Radio is also silent on this event. People I spoke with who knew about this alleged incident all read it in The Vinton Voice article.
