After a judge tossed the case, 50 Cent is reacting to his win in the $1 billion ‘ Power ’ lawsuit filed against him by a former drug kingpin, who claimed the entertainment mogul stole his life story to create his hit series. Of the three lawsuits filed against 50 Cent and the show’s creators and producers, all three were dismissed.

As we previously shared, in 2021, 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson, was first hit with a billion-dollar lawsuit by a man named Cory Holland, who claims he also goes by “Ghost,” the same nickname as the lead character James St. Patrick in 50’s hit series ‘ Power .’ In his filing, Holland named 50 Cent and the show’s co-creator and producers Courtney Kemp , STARZ, and Lionsgate, alleging that they all unlawfully reflected his life without consent.

Holland continued to assert that the lead character James “Ghost” St. Patrick closely mirrored himself and his own experiences, which he previously detailed in a 2007 CD entitled ‘ Blasphemy .’ For reference, ‘ Power ‘ first aired on STARZ in June 2014. Holland continued to allege that he sent his CD to Courtney Kemp’s father as a plea for help when trying to leave the drug world and go legit.

The former drug kingpin further accused 50 Cent and the rest of the co-creators and producers of ‘ Power ,’ claiming they exploited his life story for profit without his consent. 50 Cent has maintained his innocence amid all of the allegations and according to AllHipHop , the Jamaica Queens, NY rapper turned mogul has been vindicated.

The Hip-Hop news site shared that the Honorable Judge Analisa Torres sided with 50 Cent and ordered the claims in the case be dismissed. In the 2021 case, the judge dismissed Holland’s defamation claims as it was found that the character “Ghost” in the show ‘ Power ‘ did not directly refer to him. Although there may have been similarities in the family structure of the two individuals in question, the court found that they appeared to be “mere coincidences.”

In addition to his 2021 lawsuit, Cory Holland also filed a second case against 50 Cent in 2023, alleging that the rapper-turned-mogul sent goons to threaten and harass him, and even attempted to have him killed. Holland alleged that the rapper showed up to his neighborhood with an entourage in a fleet of vans and SUVs and that they were going around looking for a man named “Ghost.” In a second alleged incident, Holland said associates of the rapper would play threatening music near his house, which he took as a clear message.

In December 2023, 50 Cent denied the claims and filed to have the lawsuit dismissed, but a New York judge declined, according to AllHipHop . In the second lawsuit, Holland alleged that the G-Unit rapper attempted to orchestrate a hit on him, claiming, “It’s 50 Cent’s abilities to HIRE a HITMAN, due to a 150 Million Dollar Contract he secured through STARZ/LIONSGATE, that have created the FEAR and constant anxiety.”

The former drug kingpin added, “The hitmen 50 Cent hired, can KILL [me] and [my] family at any time and anywhere, once they are paid. So [whether] 50 Cent is in New York or Michigan or anywhere in America or Overseas, ‘ONCE HE PAYS THE HOMIES TO DO WHAT THEY DO BEST,’ quoting the defendant from the radio interview, the job can get done at any point after that. [I] believe 50 Cent has some type of protection from the federal government, this has been mentioned by several people he has been involved with in VIOLENT situations. Rather it’s his own Child’s Mother or Former Music Executives like Chris Gotti and Irv Gotti , of MURDER INC RECORDS, 50 Cent has the ability to do things everyday people can’t.”

Things in the second case took a huge left turn when Holland potentially threatened violence against 50 Cent, his legal team, and anyone else associated with him. He warned that if anyone stepped to him again, there would be fatal consequences. 50 Cent’s legal team alerted Judge Analisa Torres and local authorities about the claims, but in recent news, Judge Torres has now dismissed those claims against 50 Cent as well.

Reportedly, one of the claims was past the statute of limitations and the claim of 50’s associates playing threatening music didn’t stick either. Judge Torres explained, “There is no indication that this conduct constituted a threat, much less an ‘imminent threat of harmful contact’ as required for an assault claim.”

In a third lawsuit filed by former drug kingpin Cory Holland, he claimed that Lionsgate should pay him $300 million for not having control over 50 Cent being that the studio produces the ‘ Power ‘ franchise. Holland claims Lionsgate and its company STARZ showed negligent supervision over 50 Cent and his franchise, however, the claims were also dismissed as Holland “failed to demonstrate a duty of care owed to him by the companies.” All three cases have been tried and dismissed, with 50 Cent as the victor in all. Taking to his Instagram to react on Saturday (August 3), he wrote, “Fool thought he was GHOST da fvck wrong wit these ’s man LOL.”
