We all know the pain of constantly battling weeds in the garden , how they wind up through our beautiful patio slabs and seem to laugh in the face of our efforts to oust them. You could toil away for hours uprooting these pesky invaders from your paths and patios only for them to sprout right back up.

Yet, a savvy woman on Instagram proclaims that banishing patio weeds can be a breeze using her hack and it hinges on one common household item. While the go-to for many might be white vinegar when tackling those stubborn patio weeds, there's another pantry hero that won't risk harm to your verdant lawns or delicate blooms . Enter Instagrammer Jessica Nakamura, who swears by baking soda for kicking weeds to the curb.

On Instagram, she shared her trick with her followers , captioning the video: "This is an easy way to permanently get rid of the weeds between your patio stones." Jessica begins by saying, "If you need a simple way to get rid of the weeds between your patio try using baking soda.", reports the Express .

In her tutorial, Jessica broadcasts sprinkling a liberal amount of baking soda over the weedy spots of her patio, sweeping it into every nook with a broom.

Next up, blast the area with your trusty garden hose. "24 hours" later, Jessica boasts that the once bothersome weeds would be dead as doornails, allowing for a fuss-free removal and promising they "won't grow back".

A user named Jessica updated curious gardeners in the comments section, a month after trying the baking soda weed removal trick on her patio.

    Her verdict?

"One month later, patio is still weed-free and grass is still green." Why does this pantry staple work miracles on those pesky patio invaders?

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, packs a punch with its high salt content.

As it turns out, weeds can't handle a salt overload; they shrivel up, dehydrated, and lose their regenerative superpowers.

This makes the unwanted greens easy to pluck right out of the ground by their roots, which decreases their chances of staging a garden comeback.

Garden lovers should note, though, that while the weedy woes might be waving goodbye, nearby plants might not enjoy the salty surprise.

But fear notany accidental sodium spikes can be neutralized with a good dose of water or a hefty downpour, which sends the baking soda packing.
