Deadpool & Wolverine has annihilated the box office since its release, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a fan who wasn’t blown away by Hugh Jackman‘s performance. Ryan Reynolds obviously brought his signature wit to the role of Deadpool, but Jackman, in his tenth appearance as Wolverine, effectively stole the show. He was dramatic and scary and charismatic in equal measure, and he was, unsurprisingly, well-paid for his efforts.

Disney/Marvel superhero comedy "Deadpool & Wolverine" continued on a record-setting pace this weekend in North American theaters, clawing its way to an imposing $97 million in ticket sales, industry watcher Exhibitor Relations said Sunday. That brings its domestic total to $395.6 million -- for the eighth best second weekend ever, Variety reported -- while international ticket sales were even more impressive, at $428 million.

It appears that the notion of movie theaters becoming obsolete may have been premature. It seems that moviegoers were simply anticipating the release of quality movies. Inside Out 2 recently came out and has grossed over a billion dollars wordwide already. In the upcoming week, the much-anticipated film Deadpool and Wolverine is scheduled for release and is poised to be a major box office success, potentially crossing the billion-dollar mark in revenue. Hopefully, Hollywood will continue to release these good films and moviegoers will continue to go see them. Nothing better than watching a great movie on the big screen.
