Olympic gymnastics superstar Simone Biles has revealed an unexpected off-the-mat challenge: Botox.

The record-breaking athlete recently posted on social media about her experience with the popular cosmetic procedure, admitting that her attempt at a “baby Botox” treatment did not go as planned.

Celebrities prefer Botox and fillers primarily for their cosmetic benefits. Botox is commonly used to treat wrinkles caused by muscle movements, which are commonly referred to as expression lines. It can treat lines on the upper face, forehead, and other wrinkled or shallow areas.

However, it is a short-term treatment. Botox injections must be administered on a monthly basis, and the effect usually lasts for 3 to 4 months, after which the treatment must be repeated.

The star gymnast, currently competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics, posted a getting-ready video on TikTok on August 2 (which she recorded on August 1 before winning a gold medal in the all-around).

Not only did she go through her makeup routine and show off what she wears to compete, but she also revealed some details about a recent act of self-care that went amiss.

Biles admitted to getting Botox in her T-zone as a birthday treat, but the results were far from ideal. She described how one of her brows would rise involuntarily, which both amused and inconvenienced her.

“I have a funny story for you guys,” she started. “So, for my 27th birthday, I got Botox, like, baby Botox, just right here in my T-zone, and I did not like it. So I haven’t got it again, and mind you, that was back in March.”

She explained how one of her brows would occasionally lift on its own during practice. Other gymnasts would point it out to her, but she couldn’t get it to return to its original position for nearly 20 seconds.

“It would randomly do that!” she recalled, before proudly demonstrating that she can now do “all the facial [expressions],” creasing her forehead.

“Not doing that again,” she declared.

Despite the less-than-ideal outcome, Biles continues to shine on the gymnastics stage, demonstrating that even the world’s best athletes can experience beauty mishaps.
