A few showers and isolated storms popped up over northwest Ohio earlier, along with an isolated patch of rain southeast of Downtown Columbus that will drift southeast and dissipate before sunset.
Stronger cells Saturday afternoon were accompanied by cold air funnels, associated with cooler air aloft and mid-level low pressure above a warm, sticky air mass.
A weak area of high pressure will settle over the region tonight. Skies will gradually clear after evening clouds dissipate, with morning readings in the mid-60s. Patchy fog is possible in the river valleys
Hot and humid conditions will continue on Monday in a light southerly flow behind the high-pressure ridge off to the east. A frontal boundary will sag into northern Ohio, where a few showers and storms will develop in the evening, as the front stalls.
A cold front will approach Tuesday afternoon, bringing a chance for more widespread showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. Readings will again reach the low 90s in a muggy pattern.
The front will push south of the region midweek, allowing drier and seasonably warm air to prevail the remainder of the week and over the weekend
Hurricane Debby
Tropical Storm Debby reached hurricane status Sunday west of the Florida Gulf Coast, making landfall Monday morning along the Big Bend coast. Torrential rain will cause flash flooding in a swath from northern Florida to the eastern Carolinas, where rainfall totals will exceed a foot in some areas.
Up to five feet of storm surge is expected along the coasts of Florida and in Georgia on the Atlantic side of the circulation. Tornadoes are also possible as the storm trudges northeastward and hovers off the coast of South Carolina on Tuesday and Wednesday, before likely drifting out to sea.
