Keeping our pets groomed is just part of what it means to be a cat mom or dog mom, but that doesn't mean that all of the tasks that come along with it are my favorite! In fact, if I never had to clip anyone else's nails again for the rest of my life, that would be just fine with me... and that's why I usually ask my husband or our vet to take care of it for me. Like many animals, my cats and dogs aren't exactly big fans of the whole nail cutting thing, and it's stressful for everyone involved.

If you feel the same way as I do, you may want to check out this video before you trim your cat's nails again. This hack works for this cat mom but I don't see why it wouldn't work for others, too!

According to this video shared by @maplegingerboi on TikTok, her cat, Maple, "hates getting manicures with a passion," so she found the perfect way to distract him: A little screen time.

She puts videos of birds flying around on TV while she clips Maple's nails, and he's so entranced by what's happening on the screen in front of him that he chills out and lets her give him a manicure without fighting back. This is like magic!

Commenters agree that this is genius, with one joking, "nothing going on in that head." Another comment was strikingly accurate: "cats are literally toddlers." They are very similar, yes... but honestly, at times like this, whatever works is just fine!

    YouTube Videos for Birds

In case you are a cat parent who hasn't discovered this side of YouTube yet, there are actually a ton of videos geared towards cats, keeping them entertained and their brains stimulated all at the same time.

There are endless videos available just like the in the TikTok one above; usually filmed with wildlife cameras, you can put on hours of footage of birds, squirrels, fish, and more that will keep your cats locked in.

Then, there are my favorite videos: the ones that are actually a game. There are a lot of different kinds out there, but this one is my kitties' favorite; mice run around the screen and many cats will go running after them.  Just make sure your TV screen is fully protected from claws!

Basically, anytime you need to entertain a cat or distract them from what's going on — whether it's a nail clipping situation or something else — this videos can be a huge help. I've never met a cat who didn't love them!
