Noah Lyles' Tragic Old Post Warning Oblique Seville Before Olympics Resurfaces

U.S. sprinter Noah Lyles went viral for an old post he made warning Jamaican rival Oblique Seville before the Paris Olympics.

Lyles and Seville were neck-and-neck during Sunday's 100m semifinals at the Stade de France in Paris. The former recorded a time of 9.81, which matched Lyles' all-time personal best.

Seville beat Lyles by 0.02 seconds, but both still men qualified for a spot in the 100m final. British sprinter Louie Hinchliffe, who bested Lyles in Round 1 of the men's 100m, finished third and missed the cutoff.

Photos of the thrilling finish showed Lyles staring down Seville as both men crossed the finish line. The moment has since turned Lyles into a trending topic.

The Lyles-Seville beef isn't completely fresh. Fans have unearthed Lyles' warning against Seville from just weeks ago.

In June, Seville also bested Lyles during the 100m in the Racers Grand Prix held in Kingston, Jamaica. The hometown sprinter had stared down Lyles at the finish line as they crossed the finish line.

The U.S. star later posted the photo and issued a warning against Seville that doesn't exactly look flattering moments after the semifinal happened.

"Oh yah… I’ll remember this! See you in Paris," Lyles captioned the post while tagging Seville.

Lyles may have been trying to recreate the moment against Seville on the Olympic stage but again ended up behind the Jamaican.

After placing second to Hinchliffe in the 1st round earlier this week, Lyles issued a similar warning to the rest of the field .

But Lyles ultimately got the last laugh. The U.S. sprinter bounced back with a blazing 9.79 finish in the final to win the Olympic gold medal. Seville finished last with a 9.91 showing.
