Liverpool forwards Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have finally reported back for re-season following their exploits for Uruguay and Colombia and the 2024 Copa America .

The duo were afforded an extended summer break as a result of their continental efforts and have yet to link up with Arne Slot and the rest of the first-team, who are already travelling back from their tour of the United States.

But it won't be long before Nunez and Diaz can reunite with the rest of the squad, having already turned up to the AXA Training Center ahead of their return . Alongside Euro 2024 participants Trent Alexander-Arnold , Joe Gomez , Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo , the South American's are back where they belong.

All six players were seen arriving at Liverpool HQ in a recent video uploaded to the club's social media channels, with Reds fans delighted that some of Anfield's biggest stars are finally back on the scene following a lengthy break from domestic action.

But Nunez and Diaz, in particular, caught the eye in the video as they strolled into Melwood side-by-side. After both players greeted the media team behind the camera, they could both be seen saying their hellos to a number of kitchen staff in the training ground canteen.

Two members of staff, in particular, received a heart-warming welcome hug from both players, who were more than happy to take the time out to speak to those who see them day-in, day-out at the AXA Training Center.

While most of the attention on the players in on the pitch, it's always good to see how they are off it - and Nunez and Diaz did not disappoint, with both players showing their gratitude towards Melwood's staff upon their returns.

Now, however, both players will be aiming to impress the new manager when they meet him for the first time over the coming days. Furthermore, they will hope to do enough to work their way into his plans in time for the season opener away to Ipswich Town on August 17th.

Having come off their recent breaks, it's hoped the South American duo will be fit and raring to go over the next fortnight, especially with the Reds hoping to hit the ground running during Slot's first season at the club.

The group of players who have just finished the pre-season tour of the US are coming back in fine form, however, having won all three games during their time across the pond. Victories over Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United provide plenty of positives heading into the new campaign.
