Noah Lyles won the Men's 100M at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday, becoming a gold medalist for the first time in his career. Per Team USA , Lyles is the first American man to win the 100M Olympic gold since 2004, making this an even more historic achievement.
Lyles has been at the center of a very controversial debate that was sparked by his comments last summer about the commonly used “world champion” reference to NBA champions. These comments received a lot of backlash, including from many NBA players who argued that the NBA is home to the world’s best basketball players.
While Lyles may have upset many current and former NBA players with his comments, Basketball Hall of Fame guard Dwyane Wade is on his side.
Sending out a viral post following Lyles' victory on Sunday, Wade showed his support for Lyles while taking a shot at anyone who has something to say about his painted nails:
Making it clear that he feels nobody can say anything about Lyles or his nails now that he is a gold medalist, Wade took aim at anyone who may have thought otherwise.
Wade recently spoke about painting his own nails, saying he has been doing so since 2007:
Wade is a two-time Olympian with USA Basketball and has been working as an analyst alongside NBC's Noah Eagle during this summer's basketball games. In his 16-year NBA career, Wade won three NBA championships with the Miami Heat and made 13 All-Star appearances.
Showing support for Lyles, Wade is one of the NBA figures standing with the gold medalist.
