Michter’s makes great releases at basically every price point, from the $6,000 Celebration Sour Mash –which you won’t find anywhere for less than five figures at this point–to the $100 Toasted Barrel Sour Mash to the good ol' fashioned Michter’s Bourbon, which you can pick up for $40. For those looking to pick up something toward the lower-middle price tier that's incredibly delicious, the Kentucky-based whiskey maker has just launched the 2024 edition of its 10 Year Straight Rye.

Michter’s makes what’s called a Kentucky-style rye , which means its mash bill sticks to around 51 percent rye grain rather than the 80 to 100 percent found in Indiana, Pennsylvania , or Ireland ryes.

"When I came to Michter's, I developed a greater appreciation for Kentucky-style rye with its additional flavor nuances that come from having more corn and more malted barley in a majority rye mash bill," says master distiller Dan McKee.

Unlike a variety of other brands trying to jump on the spicy whiskey trend, Michter’s isn’t new to the rye world.

"For over 20 years at Michter's, we have been hard at work trying to show that American rye can be a world class-spirit,” says Michter's president Joseph J. Magliocco. “Along with our US*1 Rye, our 10 Year Rye has led the way for us.”

The 2024 version of Michter’s 10 Year Kentucky Straight Rye carries all of the elegance and complexity it's been known for. The spice isn’t overpowering and blends perfectly with floral, citrus, and honey notes. Underneath it all, there's also chocolate and fruit. It’s the kind of whiskey that pairs perfectly with summer sunsets and rollicking talks around the campfire.

Bottled at 92.8 proof (46.4 percent alcohol by volume), Michter's 10 Year Rye carries a suggested retail price of $200 in the U.S.
