Miss Teen USA 2024 winner Addie Carver is using her platform to empower other young girls who are looking up to her, promising them "you're never alone."

The 17-year-old cheerleader, who elevated to and then snagged the Miss Teen USA after winning Miss Mississippi Teen USA , refuses to let the negativity thrown beauty queens’ way stop her mission. During the pageant that Addie triumphed in, which was held on Thursday, she revealed to judges her hopes, should she be crowned winner.

If crowned Miss Teen USA, the Southern dancer promised it would be her “mission” to let “every little girl who was like her know” that they are “never alone.”

Miss Teen USA’s runner-up is Miss Georgia’s Ava Colindress, who will serve as Miss Teen USA if Addie can’t fulfill her duties.

Addie’s strength and perseverance are exemplary given how much young women have to contend with who are in her position. Last year’s Miss USA, Noela Voigt, and Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, gave up their titles around the same time in May, shocking officials at the Miss Universe Organization. The two ladies’ resignation was history-making since it was the first time that Miss Teen USA and Miss USA titleholders quit.

"Since Miss USA was established in 1952, no titleholder has ever before voluntarily stepped down," reported Vox. Since UmaSofia quit, she was unable to crown her successor Addie.

UmaSofia's mom Barbara Srivastava unveiled the pressures behind being a pageant queen that can lead to burnout and possibly quitting.

“The job of their dreams turned out to be a nightmare,” Barbara said. “We could not continue this charade. The girls decided to step down and give (up) their dream of a lifetime — a crown, a national title."

Noela claimed that it was a “toxic work environment” in her resignation letter. Additionally, she revealed that she had suffered from “heart palpitations, full body shakes, loss of appetite, unintentional weight loss, loss of sleep, loss of hair, and more.”

According to The U.S. Sun, “The Miss USA Organization said it respected and supported their decision to step down from their duties.”

Other reasons that might have influenced Noela and UmaSofia to step down could’ve been that contestants in Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants couldn't wed or have kids until 2023.
