Ohio Task Force 1 heading to Florida after activation

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Ohio Task Force 1 has been activated in advance of the arrival of Hurricane Debby in Florida.

After leaving from its Vandalia headquarters Sunday night, the team will stage in the Atlantic coast while awaiting their assignment.

The deployment will include 47 members, including two K-9 handler/dog teams.

The team members will be able to assist with search and rescue operations, medical and other aspects.

Hurricane Debby, currently in the Gulf of Mexico, could hit Florida with more than a foot of rain. The National Weather Service warned that flash and urban flooding is possible.
