Katie Ledecky made it clear that she has a desire to compete at the 2028 Olympics; however, whether it will actually happen remains to be seen.

According to Ledecky, she can't say for certain that she would be able to perform at a high level when the next Olympics roll around in LA. After all, by that time, she's already 31.

However, one thing is clear, if Ledecky can still be at the top of her game in 2028, she will fight.

" It's not easy . I'll take it year by year, and we'll see if I can keep giving everything I've got for as long as I have left in me," Ledecky said when asked about potentially returning for another Olympic run, per ESPN.

For what it's worth, though, Ledecky did emphasize that she doesn't feel like she's " close to being finished in the sport yet," via Yahoo Sports.

Sure enough, Katie Ledecky's performance at the 2024 Olympics suggests that she's not slowing down any time soon. While she's already at an age where many swimmers no longer thrive or would retire, Ledecky has remained a dominant force, especially in distance swimming.

Ledecky bagged the gold medal in both the women's 1500-meter freestyle and 800-meter freestyle. She earned four medals overall in these Summer Games, including one silver (women's 4x200m freestyle relay) and one bronze (women's 400m freestyle).

Overall in her career, Ledecky now owns nine Olympic gold medals, becoming only the sixth Olympian to do so. Whatever Ledecky decides to do come 2028, there's no doubt she'll go down as one of the best, if not the greatest female swimmer ever.
