Draymond Green went off on a rant after playing against some young high school prospects after he saw them complaining about being fouled. He warned them that life in the NBA is not as easy and that complaining about fouls is not an effective strategy to find success in the league.

"Y'all chasing the game, like all young dudes do. Come down - 'I need to get a three' - and ain't nobody Steph Curry. Everybody gets the three, shooting it well. But you took three fouls in a row... Y'all crying about every call. I get a lot of techs. So, I'm actually f*cked up on that part."

"But it's also cost me $2.5 million. Which is more money than anybody here is planning to make that ain't a rich kid. It's probably 50 times the amount of money my mom made in her life. So it will cost you. What have y'all done to get calls? I was this close to not giving y'all calls, and there's nothing any of y'all can say."

"So, why are we crying about calls? It's pick-up... Why? I just want to know which one of y'all done something? Quite frankly, I don't think any of y'all have done anything. But that's just me. It's a lot of n****s good in high school... All the n****s ranked before me, where are they? It really doesn't mean anything."

"It means you're good right now. Which means you're more likely to stop working right now. That's all it means. So stop crying about the calls. Play! Play smart... Read the game!... Think the game, stop crying! Everybody is crying about a foul, crying about a travel, crying about this, and ain't nobody prove nothing. And all the guys crying are the ones that ain't done nothing."

Draymond Green made some poignant arguments, even if he was being harsh on the high school players. If anything, they will benefit in the long run after Green's words, after he gave them a reality check, not just about their play, but also about their mentality as they look to become pros in the NBA.

Draymond Green Had An Unlikely Success Story

As mentioned in the video, Draymond Green was not a guaranteed success in the NBA. He was a second-round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, being selected with the 35th overall pick by the Warriors. But within just a few years, he established himself as one of the key rotation pieces for the Warriors.

He became a consistent All-Star caliber player and one of the best defenders in the NBA. In 2017, Green was named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year. Green has been invaluable for the Warriors becoming a key piece in the Warriors dynasty in the 2010s.

While he is no doubt a controversial player, there is no denying his legacy. Green has won 4 NBA championships, a Defensive Player of the Year award, 4 All-Star selections, 2 All-NBA selections, and 8 All-Defensive selections. Green will go down as one of the all-time greats in the league.
